Introduction:
Hello, today/tonight here at the parent teacher conference, I will be introducing the work that we're doing since the beginning of 2nd term and I will also show what I've learned throughout the whole year. The 2 things that I'm good at are adding, subtracting, multiplying and the best of all dividing fractions, and I am also good at solving problems from the textbooks. Two things that I need to improve are doing all of my homework book or textbook work and asking questions so, I can understand more about what I'm doing. My goal for the next 6 weeks of school is try to review my past works and try doing it over and over so I wouldn't forget them.
My Subjects:
Math
Term 1 Reflection In term one we did rates, proportional reasoning, two term ratio and three term ratio. We made our own version of Sesame Street videos about math rates, ratio and proportional reasoning and we posted it on the blog & youtube. We moved on to square numbers and square roots, we made a multiplication table using a grid, and we also learned about primary factors. I did some of my homework and commented on the blog. I would do all of my homework, so I can do a better job next time on my work and write it overhead while we’re correcting it in class.
Proportional Reasoning
a relationship that says that two ratios and two rates are equal. It can be written in a fraction form.
RATIO :
Two Term Ratio - compares two quantities measured in the same unit. Example - White Cookies: Blue Cookies 1:2
Three Term Ratio - compares three quantites measured in the same unit. Example : White Cookies: Blue Cookies: Pink Cookies 1:2:3
Part to Part Ratio - compares different parts of the group to the whole group. Example: White Cookies:Yellow Cookies 1:7
Part to Whole ratio - compares one part of a group to the whole group. It can be written in a decimal, fraction and percent. Example: Purple Cookies : Total Cookies 8:21
Rate:
Rate- compares two quantites measured in different units Unit rate- a rate in which the second term is 1
Unit price - a rate used when shopping

Chapter 3 : Dividing Integers
Example:
The sign rule for division is the same as the sign rule for multiplication, addition, and subtraction. 6 ÷ 2 = 3 There are no negative signs in the question, therefore the answer it positive.
-6 ÷ (-2) = 3 There is an even number of negative signs in the question, so the answer is positive.
(-6) ÷ 2 = -3 There is an odd number (one) of negative signs in the question, therefore the answer is negative.
6 ÷ (-2) = -3 There is one negative sign in the question, therefore the answer is negative.
Chapter 4 : Order of Operations with Integers

Textbook Questions: 1st part:
a) Maria walked 420m.
b) Walter walked 323m.
c) Maria, because she walked 97m further than Walter.
Show you know: a) What is the volume of the right rectangular prism?
Answer: LxWxH
8.5 cm x 4cm = 34 cm² 34 cm² x 5 cm = 170 cm³
b) What is the volume of a cube with edge length 3 meters?
Answer: Length x Width x Height 3 cm x 3 cm = 9 cm² 9 cm² x 3 cm = 27 cm ³
What is the volume of the right triangular prism?
Answer: base x height ÷ 2 x height 5 x 9 ÷ 2 = 22.5 mm² 22.5 mm² x 8 mm = 180 mm³
My Cylinder Volume and Volume Problem
r = d/2
r = 20/2
r = 10 cm²
v = π x r x r x h
( 3.14 x 10 x 10 ) x 40
314 x 40
1,2560 cm³
r = d/2 r = 30/2 r = 15 cm²
v = π x r x r x h ( 3.14 x 15 x 15 ) x 40 14, 130 cm³
Term 2 Reflection
This term, we learnt about percents, surface area, and volume. I understood all of the things it’s just I wasn’t really focusing on my work and for my recent quizzes, I did really bad because I wasn’t concentrating. This term was fun because I got to learn new things such as doing surface areas, even though I did bad, I tried my best to understand these kind of stuff. I think all of the people from our class enjoyed the things that we did because I don’t think any one of us failed, but some of us got higher marks or lower marks than their first term, but I promise that I will do better next term.
Subject: Social Studies Mesopotamian definition card TASK: What was I asked to do for this assignment? I was required to create an illustration of something that we want from all of the definition from the booklet, all designs has to relate to the topic the you chose.
INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment? There are several reasons why I completed this assignment. First, this assignment helped me visual of what we're learning for social studies. Next, this assignment helped me for our recent tests/quizzes. Lastly, this assignment helped me learned the definition from the Mesopotamian definitions. CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment? - it has to be colored, outlined with sharpie, and all designs for the outlines has to related to the word topic that you chose out of all the other definitions.
NEXT STEPS: I can now study and understand what I made and create a visual organizer. I can now make this as my study took for exam. I can now help make the rubrics/criteria of how to complete a definition card. I can follow then use to achieve my goals from the criteria list.

Subject: Social Studies Cuneiform Reflection TASK: What was I asked to do for this assignment? I was required to reflect on my cuneiform that I made from the Mesopotamian time.We are also required to wrote what we could do next time we make another cuneiform, and we wrote what we did bad of doing the cuneiform such as using our time wisely and trying the cuneiform look neat.
INTENT: Why am I completing this assignment?There are several reasons why i completed this assignment. First, this assignment helped me visual of what we're learning and how they write in Mesopotamian times. Second, this assignment helped me set goals and how I could do better next time I make another cuneiform. Also, this assignment helped me make a cuneiform and how use the stylus.
CRITERIA: How do I know what I needed to do to be successful in completing this assignment?- I need to follow the criteria that was given to us before we made the cuneiform. - we need to follow instructions that was also given - we need to use our time wisely - we need to answer the questions that was given to us and write a long paragraph to reflect of how we did, what we could do better next time, and how we can change our mistakes from the cuneiform.
NEXT STEPS:
I can now change my mistakes and grammar and try to follow the instructions that was given by putting the paragraphs in the right orders.
I can now write a lot of reflection about everything that we did throughout the whole year.
I can now set my goal for my future to change my mistakes and so, I could do better next time.
I can now help people to make the criteria of how they're suppose to make their reflection sheet and what they have to do.
I can now understand how hard it is to make a cuneiform from the ancient times, because I knew that they use clay mud to make cuneiforms.
My topic for 2 minutes to make a difference is "Poverty in Africa." Our 4 big questions are determine the effect poverty has made on the lives of the people in Africa, analyze how the people in Africa deal with the conditions they are living in, and investigate the consequences the government's poor choices has made on those in Africa.
In looking at your work, I would like to compliment you on the following 2 things:
-You make an effort to your work, it's good to see that you made things beyond our expectation, and I hope that next time, you will do your homeworks, you'll study, and focus on exploring yourself to new things.
In the last 6 weeks of school I will help you reach your goals by:
- We will help you achieve your goals by giving you enough time for research. - We will also help you focus on your studying for your exam instead of playing video games at home.
